Nigel Jones

Nigel is an advocate for the benefits of mindfulness in improving our well-being and life satisfaction.

He has trained in a range of meditation practices including Transcendental Meditation in the early 1980’s and in the 1990’s the Silva Method, which uses meditation, visualisation and guided imagery to help access and achieve our true potential.

10 years ago he joined Perth’s Living Philosophy School where he re-discovered the benefits of meditation, encountered mindfulness and spent a number of years facilitating courses in meditation, mindfulness and spirituality.

Nigel is the Chair of the not-for-profit that runs our Hub and his courses and guided meditation sessions incorporate ancient wisdom, modern science, and positive psychology.

Details

Duration :4 weeks - 1.5 hr class each week.

Course Fee :We operate on a Pay From Your Heart basis.
We recommend a minimum $10 per person per class.
Paying more than this helps cover those that cannot afford the suggested amount.

What to bring :Comfortable clothing is recommended to assist you in relaxing.
Mats, cushions & blankets are provided. You are also welcome to bring your own meditation props should you prefer.
Chairs & stools are available for those unable to sit on the floor.

What is covered in this Mindfulness Meditation Course?

Week 1 – Introduction to Meditation

In this session we explore how the mind works and discover meditation, mindfulness and their benefits.

We experience awareness and body scan practices.

Week 2 – Foundations of a Regular Meditation Practice

The importance of a regular practice, how to develop our routine or habit, potential challenges and
how to overcome them.

As well as the awareness and body scan, we will experience breath-based meditation.

Week 3 – Paying Attention

How to pay attention, the challenges of wandering attention and potential remedies.


Practices include awareness, body scan and breath-based meditations including breath counting.

Week 4 – Developing our Practice, Self-Compassion & Where to Next

Integrating our learnings to develop a regular practice, the importance of treating ourselves kindly
and an introduction to self-compassion practices. Where to next?

Our meditations include body, breath and mantra-based practices.
